RETRO CANDY YUM ~ 1980 45th Birthday Gift Box Assortment Nostalgic Candy from Childhood for 45 Year Old Man or Woman Born 1980

I always wanted on of these boxes, but wouldn’t buy one for myself. I got this on my birthday, a gift from my Mom. It was full of all the candies I grew up on. Not only was the candy fresh, it was an awesome assortment. We had such nostalgia going through the box. Candies tasted as good as I remembered. Best gift EVER!

Was a big hit

this was a great fun 40th birthday gift for my son. It brought back fond childhood memories.

I got this for my young nephew thinking it would be a nice surprise. I forgot that candy cigarettes were even a thing back then, and they are in the box. It was, of course, the first thing he pulled out and immediately starting holding them and pretending to smoke with them. While it was hilarious, I did feel a little bad. The other candy in there was all fine.It's also a little weird that this is really only sold as a birthday gift. I feel like this is a bit shortsighted. Can't it just be a gift, without being something as specific as a birthday? Then again, maybe the candy cigarettes would have been fine if this was actually a gift for someone born in the 80s. A lot of the candy was pretty familiar and modern, but there were some gems. Bottom line is that this is a nice little gift for someone, but if you're getting it for a kid, just know that one of the boxes of candy in here are candy cigarettes.

Great birthday gift !

I bought this for my wife on her 40th birthday. I I thought it would be a fun trip down memory lane, and it was. We reminisced over memories about when we had this candy or where we used to buy these candies. I really enjoyed sharing our memories and experiences with our kids. There were two aspects of the box that lead me to knock off one star. Lack of variety and the candy cigarettes.Let me start with the cigarettes. I do not smoke, I do not like that people smoke, smoking disgusts me. But man do I have fond memories of buying candy cigarettes from the local candy store and having a blast with my brother pretending. These were not the same candy cigarettes I remember buying in the early 80's. Maybe that's on me for expecting the same ones I used to buy. Honestly, the candy cigarettes is the reason I spent a few more bucks on the larger box (seems weird to be gripping and be disappointed by candy cigarettes).The second reason I knocked off one star is the lack of variety. True the box held lots of different types of candy. But they were almost all sour candies.For those two reasons I had to give four stars.I do however recommend this as a present. My wife loved it. I loved it, my kids loved it. My wife told all her friends and family about the box. This is a definite winner.
