I'd never seen this style of lighter before. I was familiar with standard electric ones that just generated a quick spark, and I was familiar with the gas varieties (both the regular "easy to blow out" ones, and the torches).This design combines several elements of those into a unique sort of package. It is purely electric, so it doesn't require refilling with any gas, which isn't always successful in my experience. But unlike the "quick spark" style electric lighters, like you might have used for a gas stove, this uses its battery power to generate a continuous arc of electricity, so you don't need to get the timing and placement just right with the stove gas. Similarly, the quick spark style of lighter wouldn't have a prayer of generating enough heat to light a candle, but the continuous arc of this one makes short work of it.So it can do things that a gas lighter can do, without using gas, which is pretty cool! The battery does need to be charged, but that is really easy using the standard USB-C plug, which is the same as my phone, shaver, etc...so it's a piece of cake to keep it charged.It is perfect for anything from stoves, candles, up to even cigarettes if you are in a pinch, however I wouldn't recommend it for lighting pipes as the width of the spark between the electrodes is too small to effectively ignite the whole surface of the plant material. You'd get a few bits lit, but not get a real cherry going. But as long as you keep your expectations reasonable and stick to smaller stuff, this can do everything you're using the traditional styles of lighter for, without worrying about getting the spark just right, or having to refill it. Plus it seems cool and high-tech!

I love that there are two steps to make it "work." First you have to slide a bar up to open the power button. The you can press the power button. Eventually my 4 yr old will figure it out, but he hasn't yet!I love that the flame is very small. And it's sort of recessed. You can't accidentally start something on fire. You have to purposefully place the tiny electric heat source so that it can touch whatever you want to light. It's not like dropping a lit match, which can easily cause a fire. With this you really have to be trying to burn something.I love that it is slim and small and easy to pop in a backpack or purse or drawer. I took one similar camping with me this past summer, but I had to recharge it twice in the six days we were at the camp ground. Of course, we kept playing with it! It was a great new toy for grandma and uncle and auntie. We showed it to the other campers, and we probably drained the battery much faster than we needed. Since coming home and just using it to light candles, it has power for weeks at a time.I love, love, love that it uses the same power cord as nearly everything else around here from my cell phone to tablets to rechargeable toys and so forth. The lighter can't be wasted just because I can't find the right cord! I have dozens of them.Again, I love this lighter!

At $23.99 for 2, you're probably thinking whoa, those are some expensive lighters! But these are rechargeable so no need to purchase more lighters when the lighter fluid runs out. No more buying butane to refill butane lighters. And the greatest part about these lighters, you don't have to worry about wind blowing the flame out while you're trying to light something. I wish I had known about electric lighters and had gotten them sooner. They're also very sleek looking and feel durable.

This doohickey is really neat. I had no idea what to expect with an electric candle lighter, how it would work, light a flame, etc; So I was really stoked to see it in action. It's a very satisfying to push the button and hear the sizzle. And there's even a safety slider above the button so to make sure only adults can use it. Excited to have this and help with hard to reach wicks and the bottom of candles - and regular candles too, cause sometimes I lose matchboxes or the strip doesn't work!

I like that the electrical contacts retract when the safety switch is turned to the off position.This arc lighter does a good job of lighting candles and fireworks, just like most lighters.Like most arc lighters, it is easy to get candle wax on the electrical contacts, which then have to be cleaned off before using the lighter again. Otherwise, the wax blocks the arc, and you get no flame.

I have tried different electric lighters, and I have to say this one is my absolute favorite! This lighter is slim and very sleek—I like that it has a safety switch that literally retracts the little spark points back into the case. A quick slide up of the switch and press of a small button, and the little bolt of lightning is firing and ready to light your candle or whatever. This lighter also feels solid and great in your hand and is long enough to get down into even the deepest candles.Compared to using disposable lighters, this is such a sustainable option. I have used it many times to test it, and I still have 3 out of 4 lights on the battery level. Bonus: it is USB-C charging, so I don't have to look too far to find a charger (a cable is also included).Considering how many disposable lighters you would buy and use up during the lifespan of this device, I'd say this is a total bargain. Get it!
