1. These oversized tartan blanket scarfs are exclusively made with high quality breathable blend fabric intended to eliminate the itchy wool crisis. 2. Scotland clan tartan never goes out of style. What better way to stay warm in winter than wrapping yourself up in this soft and cozy cashmere feel scarf? Traditional tartan plaid design add a touch of sophistication to any wardrobe. 3. Colors are rich and vibrant, and the fabric is incredibly soft. It's not heavy and easy to pack for a trip. Long enough to be very useful for wrapping it around your ears and head, wide enough to wrap around your shoulders. 4. As a scarf it will wrap around your neck multiple times, is warm, provides incredible insulation from the cold winter. As a shawl, it offers a light cover, also good for a summer night. 5. You can use it as a pashmina-style wrap in a cold air-conditioned office or on a long flight, or wrap yourself as a light blanket when sitting in front of the fireplace in the frigid winter. 6. This ancient tartan scarf is great, well made, and of course, a great way to show your clan pride. Keep it to honor your Scottish heritage. 7. Hand wash or dry clean. DO NOT BLEACH. Hand wash could use hair shampoo in lukewarm water. Wash individually & avoid washing them with other color cloths. Squeeze gently and do NOT twist. Dry flat after removing excess water, keep away from heat.

Very soft, nice scarf, easily washable
This is very soft, a thick fleece, synthetic material. I washed it (warm water & put in dryer) before wearing because it smelled faintly of mildew and it came right out. Wore it on a chilly day and when I switched it from scarf to shawl it really kept the wind out. Then it became a cozy blanket snuggled up with my guy at the movies. This is going to be a winter staple of mine.***Edit: My boyfriend ordered me a second one of these for Christmas and I absolutely love it, been wearing it every day. It is super warm and so soft. Came smelling of mildew again but washed it and put it in the dryer. I noticed one tiny thread has already begun to unravel on the outer edge, so it probably shouldn't go in the dryer again. Quality is not superior, so I don't expect it to last long, but for the price it is decent. I love that the Grey Tartan is the true pattern and looks like cashmere, with a subtle loft, until you touch it and realize it's fleece. Stylish and cozy!

Looks pretty, but came stinking of mildew
The good: this is a super-soft, generously sized, beautiful shawl/wrap.The bad: Got this for a Halloween costume. It came absolutely reeking of mildew. We didn’t have time to return/exchange, so we washed it repeatedly in odoban, which mitigated the smell enough to make it useful for its intended purpose.I would not purchase this as a gift, for fear that it would arrive at the intended recipient reeking of mildew.

Nice scarf, unbelievably stinky, so MUST be washed TWICE before you gift it
Well, many reviewers said this scarf was incredibly stinky. And it was really bad. Like moldy, toxic, I've never smelled anything like it. Frankly, I didn't think washing would make a difference. But I did wash it in the machine twice, on warm, with lots of detergent and stain/odor remover, and it worked. Came out looking nice, and not messed up by two long washing machine sessions. It's pretty and soft. But holy cow, just open the package directly in front of the washing machine. And please, DO NOT gift this to someone without giving it a couple of hours in the washing machine. They need to fix this odor thing.

So incredibly soft and vibrant!
I was looking for a plaid pattern that closely resembled the Douglas Tartan of Scotland. Although this isn't exact and is more like the Nightwatch Tartan/Pattern, it has enough similarities to be "passable" to those who aren't as well-versed in traditional Scottish Tartans. Previous comments mentioned a specific smell that the product had upon delivery, suggesting to wash twice before gifting - I didn't notice any overpowering chemical or mildew smells. When wrapped around my shoulders it provides a good amount of warmth without being stifling or causing me to sweat. The product really feels like Cashmere! It is currently draped across a chair like a throw blanket and looks beautiful, cozy, and inviting. I would recommend this product to anyone who is on-the-fence to give it a shot!

Gift? Don't! Smells like Mold!!!!
Upon opening I didn't smell it. I bought this for myself. It came in a plastic bag. When I opened the bag I smelled it, unfortunately at that point it was around my neck! I'm allergic to mold.If you give this as a gift it will be offensive. It smells like it came from an old second hand stores basement. Their stick has been stored somewhere damp and moldy and the mold has permeated the bags. These MUST be washed before wearing. That said, they are beautiful and soft. What a shame. I would never give one of these from this seller as a gift! That was a horrible experience. Clearly the scarf was never wet itself, just stored some place nasty!

Love this scarf/shawl
This is a great soft scarf. I love it and get complements on it all the time. It is so soft and super warm. I'm allergic to wool so finding a wool-free tartan scarf/shawl is hard. But this one fits the bill. I wish they made one in the Isle of Skye Tartan. I've been looking for a wool-free one for years. ……...hint, hint. Let me know when you make one, please. I'll be the first to buy it.
