UPDATE 2The second one I received has been great and the seller has been really really good at checking in to make sure things areworking and to offer me advice and ever a second return if the unit were to fail again. So while the first experience was poor I can now recommend both the seller and the unit. Sometimes something can slip through quality control and I guess I just got unlucky the first time.UPDATEThe seller have been really really brilliant in getting in touch with me to resolve the issue. While I still had a bad experience with the actual device, the seller have been really good and have looked after me. With that in mind I'd recomend this as a good entry level device because when it worked it was great, and when it stopped working the seller backed me up.So I got this, turned it on used it for an hour and it was great then I got the alarm that it wasn't connected to my phone any more so I went to check it and it was off.I thought maybe the batteries were dead, which was odd since I thought they were fresh, I put new batteries in it and it would not turn on. It has been dead since. I've submitted a return to Amazon and I'm waiting to be refunded.This is a a shame because it seemed really handy, was easy to pair with my phone, easy to read and accurate. But if it won't turn on it's useless.

This arrived very quickly and was very well packaged; I doubt that it would have been better for an expensive Swiss watch!I tested the thermometer straightaway against other ones I have and they were all within 1° of each other so that was fine.I downloaded the app very easily and was impressed how the probe temperatures (and battery strength) appeared straightaway on my iPhone screen.There is a wide choice of presets (with alarms) with subdivisions for some, eg beef well done, rare etc plus you can add your own named preset easily, or use timers that can be customised to tell you what it is that the beeper is reminding you about. I think these are only settable from the phone app so you do need to download that.The Bluetooth range has been good so far, extending from the front of my house to the limit of my back garden, over 30m, and the signal did not go off even then. If you do go out of range it will send you a message then reconnect automatically when you return.The big test recently was the Christmas turkey and that was perfect so, all in all, highly recommended.

I would recommend.The two downsides are that I thought this thermometer measured point degrees but it only does whole degrees, and sometimes takes awhile to measure larger temperature changes.Great as you can set a temperature aim or range, alarms will go off on the digital box and your phone. There is set meat temperatures which is very helpful. The digital box remembers previous presets according to ports, even when its been turned off for days. These presets can be removed.I have used it for chocolate tempering, jams, toffee, nut brittle and pork. I am planning to use it for fermenting, especially as on the phone you can track all the temperature changes on a graph.

A food thermometer that links to your smartphone and tells you exactly when your meat is cooked.Not only is this a great gadget, but it takes the worry out of barbecuing. It is well made with an easy to read screen and six probes, but best of all it links via bluetooth to your smartphone and alerts you when your food is at temperature, I initially thought six probes was too many, but having used it when all the family came round recently, it is great to be able to set different temperatures for the chicken, lamb kebabs, burgers, salmon steaks etc. The probes are colour coded so that you can quickly and easily identify what it is monitoring.The app is easy to download and use, with different pre-set ranges for beef, veal, lamb, turkey, chicken, pork, fish, burgers and three types of 'smoking'. Though I did find a little glitch when trying to manually set it, but this was easily overcome by using one of the pre-sets.Overall a great product, well priced and one of those "How on earth did I ever manage without it" gadgets.

The media could not be loaded.  This is the BEST BBQ thermometer I have used so far. This is a really great piece of kit. The unit comes with two probes in the box and the box itself can safely keep up to four probes in total. The head unit takes up to six probes, this means that you can monitor more than one roast in the BBQ at any given time as well as watching the temperature within the BBQ to ensure that the heat does not decrease below a useful level. The unit also connects to an app on your phone and communicates using bluetooth. This allows you to set a desired temperature for the roast and then sit back and wait for the alarm to let you know it's ready. This is a very sturdy unit and I've already ordered more probes to add to the box. Absolutely brilliant!

Very nicely packaged and they look the business BUT I would rather spend a bit more and get something that really is spot on. They do work - they just don't accurately measure temperature in chicken or beef (meats I have cooked so far). For the price they are OK - but if you really need to be on point - spend a bit more and get something that works properly.

It's a great easy to use piece of kit. I can sit drinking an ice cold cider or 4 while keeping an eye or ear on the app, both pulled pork and beef brisket have never been cooked better on my grill!!!
