Really nice pencil
Pencil writes very smoothly and darkly with the 2B lead. The lacquer is a rich, dark green with striking gold letters. The lacquer is also thick, and feels great in the hand. The lettering is very accurately applied. High quality pencil.The one thing I don't like is the unfinished tip. Most of the other wood-cased Japanese pencils I have used have either an eraser tip, or some kind of finishing on the end. These are the same, top and bottom. As a result, it just looks a bit unrefined compared to the others. This is too bad, since the pencil looks great, otherwise.

Have you tried any Japanese pens or pencils?You wouldn’t think quality would be so different from the US pencils until you try those Japanese ones.So smooth and so strong. Highly recommended!

Hi-Uni quality at a cheaper price
Uni Mitsubishi's 9800 pencils are almost as good as their Hi-Uni brethren. The lead is smooth and dense with minimal feedback; perfect for sketching and writing.Another plus: They can fit most pencil extenders (at least the ones I own), which is fairly crucial for a pencil's lifespan. A lot of the higher end Staedlers Mars Lumos, Tombow Monos, Faber-Castells, and even the Hi-Unis require some intense jamming to get them to fit in a pencil extender.The only bad thing about the 9800s is that they only seem to come in HB, B, 2B (at least that's all I could find)

One of the nicest pencils to write with.
These are wonderful pencils the graphite is very smooth and dark and writes like silk. I have found this to be true of most Mitsubishi pencils. As for looks the gold imprint is neat and stands out against the dark green lacquer which is very evenly coated on the pencil. Some people might not like the fact that there is also some white imprint and also a barcode though.

pretty good pencils
The pencil lead is soft, it wears down very quickly and you have to constantly sharpen, if, like me, you want a sharp lead most of the time. these pencils have a nice look and fit my staedtler 900 25 metal pencil holder as well as my faber castell pencil holder very well. conclusion: a bit too soft, good color though.

These pencils are excellent!!! I'm always looking for great pencils for drawing. These are some of the best! They hold a sharp point and feel great in my hand-and they are affordable. I'm very happy with purchase!
