It’s Like the Stud Finder Finally Got a Brain – and a Heart!
I didn’t think I could feel this strongly about a stud finder… but here we are. Replacing my old, basic stud finder with the Franklin Sensors ProSensor M210 has been a total game-changer. This thing doesn’t beep and blink and guess — it knows. From the first use, I was amazed at how fast, accurate, and reliable it is. No more second-guessing or slowly inching along the wall hoping for a false-positive. The M210 lights up the entire stud in real-time, and even shows multiple studs at once if they’re there — something my old model couldn’t dream of doing. The display is large, bright, and super easy to read, even in dim lighting. It gives you instant confidence that you're drilling in the right spot. And as a thoughtful bonus, it even comes with a pencil conveniently stored right in the tool, so you’re always ready to mark your spot the moment you find it. Little things like that really show how well this tool was designed with the user in mind. It’s solid, intuitive, no calibration fuss, and simply works every time. Hanging shelves, mounting TVs, and tackling weekend projects has never felt easier or more foolproof. If you’re still using one of those old-school beep-and-hope models, do yourself a favor and upgrade. The M210 isn’t just a better stud finder — it’s the one you wish you’d bought first.

Does Not Work Well On Old Hardboard And Plaster Walls
Houses built in the 50s and in that era did not have drywall on interior walls of residential homes. I am not sure what it was called back then but it is denser that the common 1/2' drywall of today. My house has this construction and in addition to the hardboard, a coat of smooth plaster is applied over this for the finish. This makes for a thicker/denser media for the stud finder to work in and I had my doubts it would accurately locate stud centers. I was right, testing the unit on a wall that I knew where the stud was located and seen, the stud finder could not accurately find the center and repeated attempts kept placing the center in different locations even though I could see the stud in this test run.Since I needed the accurate stud location and not just ''close enough,'' I gave up and returned the unit. I did give it the old college try but on older homes, I am calling no joy.It is extremely well built and well thought out in the construction; just did not do it for me in this instance.Returning to the local UPS store was a snap as they have incorporated new procedures to make it easy and non-eventful. No additional boxes are necessary, just scan the code given by Amazon into the machine in the store and it prints out the return tag instantly. Supplied plastic bags are used and you seal up the end with the wraparound of the return label and just give it to the store clerk. My only lament is that it did not locate the studs as I had hoped, and I had to resort to other methods to find the studs to finish my project.I gave 5 stars for the construction of the stud finder but I will have to say 4 stars for the performance of it.

Amazing. Makes finding studs easy.
This is exactly what I wanted to help me find not only the stud but to know how wide it is as well as known if there is potentially electrical wires nearby. Prior to this i tried so many different types of stud finders. Very basic which was just a magnet to attach to the wall. Semi usual where you have a screen that beeps and shows where the center and edges are located and an advanced one that had laser lights to help with marking. But all of them had a degree of inaccuracy that was really apparent when I was trying to setup cat tree parts that were dependent on studs where I struggled with drilling into where I thought was the stud where I needed two drill holes where accuracy on the position and width were pivotal. Without this I have two holes I need to fix in the wall since one hole missed the stud completely and skidded off the stuff and caused a smoke smell due.

Worked well for most things
So far, the ProSensor M210 is doing a decent job finding wood and metal studs—it’s fast and accurate for that purpose. However, it failed to detect any pipes behind the wall, which was a bit disappointing. If you’re mainly using it for studs, it’s solid, but don’t count on it for plumbing or anything beyond basic wall scanning.

Why did I wait so long to buy one of these?
I was trying to hang something on a basement wall using one of those cheap magnetic stud finders. Turned out they glued everything to the wall so there were no nails to find! I looked at the reviews and thought this had enough sensors for me, and in fact it does. What's cool is that it starts lighting up red sensors as you start to pass over a stud and when you reach the center you can see a green light. That and the notches in the tool make it easy to find and mark the center of the stud. I have no idea why I used that cheap stud finder for, oh, 30 years. This thing is great, and really speeds things up. It fit my hand and I never got in the way of the sensors or had any problems. I just opened the box, put in the batteries, and it immediately worked. Highly recommended!
