Tasty , Easy to use
Product is thick and easy to spoon out of wide mouth container . This brand has a tan ish color to to it and not the hyper white powder of the standard Hing found. Use the standard pinch amounts and adds a light garlic ish flavor to dish . Regular white Hing does not add a flavor for me , but only add digestibility to the legume dishes . One of the best Hing powders I've ever used .!

Excellent addition to the spice cabinet
Perfection. I made a chicken curry using a regular American style recipe but before I added the spices, I heated the oil and started with this wonderful magical discovery! Onions right after, and slow cooked the rest! Delicious!

Amazing flavor!!
I'm pretty adventurous and I love new and unusual taste experiences. Nor am I gluten intolerant as many reviews and the sellers say that this tiny jar contains 73% wheat. But let me say that the flavor is POWERFUL! It's deliciously potent and redolent of garlic and onions, but yet very much its own thing. The flavors are complex and multi-layered. So far, in addition to several Indian recipes, I've used it to great effect in homemade turkey sausage and in curried deviled eggs. Can't wait to try it in other dishes. While the jar is indeed tiny, it doesn't take much of it to make an impression--literally a small pinch is enough.

Good Garlic sub
I am off garlic at the moment (dr's orders) and a friend recommended this spice. It comes in a super tiny container, but you only need a small amount! I use an 1/8 tsp as a garlic sub in recipes; it is potent! I roasted 4 cans of chickpeas with 1/8 tsp and it was plenty! However, sometimes it has a rubber tire aftertaste for me. Not super strong, but not the most pleasant either. If you can't have garlic, it is a good substitute.

Perfection!
This has been so helpful! I’m allergic to garlic, onions and cumin, so basically, my food has been quite bland. This stuff has been a game changer and I use it in so many things! I have two favorite uses for it: Add a pinch to melted butter, brush onto French bread and bake for “garlic bread”; To a thawed package of frozen spinach add lots of lemon, cooked orzo and a little of its cooking water, a bit of butter and asefoetida. Let cook together in a pan for a few minutes. Add a sprinkle of flour if you want it creamier.

HAS WHEAT NOT GLUTEN FREE
Order a spice, expect a spice, not a spice mixed with wheat flour; why should I have to check ingredients for celiac safety?!

It's real and good quality
I'm hardly an expert but I am pretty good at indian style cooking. This smells and tastes as expected.

New to Indian cooking
I originally bought this as an onion substitute as I do not tolerate onion and garlic as a person with ulcerative colitis. A little goes a long way and as I entered into learning about Indian cooking it has been something I reach for frequently
